Yacht club

A small group of men met in a temporary building on Carroll Avenu9_eeyc-club-south-yarde for the purpose of organizing a new yacht club. Their objective was to provide a suitable clubhouse, grounds and anchorage for the convenience of its members. In order to further encourage boating in all its forms, promote social recreation and interaction between its members, the Club was later organized on May 21, 1912 as the East End Yacht Club Inc. To this day, the EEYC continues to bring together both social events and boating.

The GYC is a small family oriented working club, located on the banks of the Connecticut River. The members build and maintain the docks, put the docks in the river, and take them out of the river.

The Hartford Yacht Club was incorporated on June 26, 1895. The original club location was on the East Hartford side of the Connecticut River in the area of the Founders and Buckley bridges. We are now located on Tryon Street at the Glastonbury/Portland border. ? We are a working club where all of our members take part in supporting the club by joining work parties to maintain the docks, building and the grounds. We also ask all members to join one of our committees that are in charge of operating various aspects of the club. Finally, we ask that our members attend and enjoy the amazing food, friends and fun at the club's regular social events including our famous clam slam event, spaghetti dinner, Halloween party, Christmas party, and Kentucky Derby party.

Established in 1905, the Pequonnock Yacht Club moved from its namesake Pequonnock River in Bridgeport to its current location in New Haven in 2009. The Club and Marina are located on 700 feet of waterfront in the historic Oyster Point district of New Haven, Connecticut. Our neighborhood is a balanced mix of residential and maritime, including a public shoreline and beach. The Club offers qualified individuals the opportunity to join as either full or associate members. Full members have voting rights in the club’s business, may lease slips, and use other marina facilities. Associate members have access to the clubhouse and all its amenities and may participate in our social events.

Founded in 1920, Pequot Yacht Club is located in the historic district of Southport CT. Amidst the exquisite setting, Pequot actively promotes sailing in the greater community. Many of the sailors in the Junior Sailing program are non-members. Sailors from all over Fairfield County from the local high schools sailing teams practice and race 420s at Pequot in the Spring and Fall. Sea Scout Ship 84 is moored in Southport Harbor and Pequot provides its facilities for training programs. Pequot also hosts young adults from FSW (Family Services Woodfield) through the Sailing with Neighbors Program.

The Yale Corinthian Yacht Club (YCYC or “yic-yic”) is a public sailing facility available to the Yale community and residents of New Haven and surrounding communities. Located on Short Beach in Branford, Connecticut, YCYC is the nation’s oldest collegiate sailing organization, dating back to 1881, and home to the Yale sailing team. Today, the yacht club boats a fleet of twenty-four high perfomance 420s (a 14 foot, two-person sailboat). The club’s sailing area is the Short Beach Cove, a well-protected inlet of the Long Island Sound. YCYC runs a weekday youth sailing program for Children aged 9 to 18. Weekend group lessons for adults are offered throughout the summer. The warm and shallow waters of Short Beach allow students to enjoy sailing in no time. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced youth sailors will enjoy learning from our experienced staff of top collegiate sailors. Every course provides classroom instruction, but has an emphasis on on-the-water instruction. Classes vary in size, scope, and length to suit individual needs. Private lessons and clinics are also available upon request. You do not need to be a YCYC summer member in order to take lessons or enroll your child in the junior program. All equipment, with the exception of foul weather gear and personal clothing, is provided.
