The Hinckley Southwest Harbor yard attracts a local, national, and international community of yachtsmen who want their boats to have the highest level of care and service. From boat painting to fiberglass fabrications for refits, to boat canvas and upholstery, marine diesel service and rigging, all the marine services and trades are standing by for you and your boat. Hinckley now also operates a Northeast Harbor facility to offer slips for vessels up to 80 feet and a complete service and repair yard at the coveted entrance to Acadia National Park. Our Northeast Harbor yard is ideally situated for cruising boaters with access to many local restaurants, provisioning services, tennis courts, showers, laundry facilities, fuel, and pump-out services.

Situated on the lovely mid-coast Maine island of Islesboro, in the heart of sailing paradise, Penobscot Bay, we are a full service yacht yard, committed to meeting the needs of the most discerning yacht owners. Our professional staff is comprised of experienced shipwrights, painters, carpenters, riggers, canvas workers, ABYC systems specialists and electricians, Mercruiser- and Mercury-certified mechanics, and dedicated project managers.

The Winter Harbor Yacht Club was founded in the 1890s along with the development of the Grindstone Neck summer community. The club is located in Downeast Maine across Frenchman Bay from Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor. It is open from Fourth of July until Labor Day. The club is the center of social life on Grindstone Neck and offers members a wide variety of sailing and racing activities including Knockabout races, Bullseye races, and a Junior Sailing program. The WHYC member facilities include a snack bar, moorings, and a launch service. It is closely associated with the Grindstone Association (grindstoneassociation.com) where golf, tennis and swimming are available. Yachtsmen visiting the WHYC by boat are welcome. The nightly guest mooring fee includes use of the launch service and Snack Bar. Visiting yachtsmen may find detailed information on the harbor and can make a reservation for a mooring on the “Visiting Yachts” page. All members and guests must abide by the State of Maine Covid protocols before using any WHYC facilities.
