“This is the second boat that Custom Canvas has done for us. They have redone the upholstery on my 320 Sundancer and my 2860 Sailfish. Both came out great. They are very busy so things never get done as quick as I want them to, but they managed my expectations and did a great job. Chris brought great ideas that we had not thought about and worked with us each step to get exactly what we wanted. Also had a Shower curtain made for around the T-Top and it fits perfect.“

“Just had Neil do a complete enclosure and top on my Stamas 250 express. Came out perfect and cost was within my agreed budget. Would highly recommend.“

Eisenglass FAQs

What does an Eisenglass service include?

Eisenglass services typically include installation, replacement, repair, or polishing of clear vinyl panels used in boat enclosures and curtains. Services may involve re-stitching seams, replacing cracked or yellowed panels, upgrading to new materials, or cleaning and restoring existing Eisenglass for improved clarity.

What types of boats use Eisenglass?

Eisenglass is commonly used on cruisers, sportfishers, center consoles, trawlers, and yachts—any boat with a canvas or vinyl enclosure. It's typically installed around helm stations or cockpit areas to offer clear visibility while providing protection from wind, rain, and spray.

How do I get a quote for Eisenglass services through Boat Planet?

Submit a request on Boat Planet with your boat’s make, model, and the type of Eisenglass service needed—repair, replacement, or full enclosure work. Be sure to include photos and measurements if possible. Local marine canvas pros will respond with quotes and availability.

Do Eisenglass pros come to my boat, or do I bring the panels to them?

For repairs or replacements, panels are usually removed and brought to a canvas shop. However, many pros offer mobile service for on-site measuring, removal, or installation. If you're unsure how to remove the panels, the pro can often handle that as part of the service.

How long does Eisenglass last?

With proper care, Eisenglass typically lasts 3–5 years before it begins to yellow, crack, or distort. High-quality versions like Strataglass or pressed-polished vinyl may last longer. Regular cleaning, storage, and protective treatments can extend its lifespan.

How long does Eisenglass repair or replacement take?

Small repairs may take 1–3 days, while full panel replacements or new enclosures can take 1–3 weeks depending on complexity and material availability. You’ll receive an accurate timeline once your pro reviews the job.

How much does Eisenglass service cost?

Eisenglass repair costs may start around $100–$300 for simple fixes. Full panel replacements or new enclosure builds can range from $1,000 to $5,000+, depending on the number of panels and materials used. Boat Planet allows you to request multiple quotes to compare local options.

What should I do to prepare for an Eisenglass service appointment?

If you're bringing the panels to a shop, make sure they’re clean and clearly mark any areas of concern. For mobile appointments, ensure your boat is accessible and remove any gear blocking the enclosure area. Provide any dock codes or instructions ahead of time.
