“This is the second boat that Custom Canvas has done for us. They have redone the upholstery on my 320 Sundancer and my 2860 Sailfish. Both came out great. They are very busy so things never get done as quick as I want them to, but they managed my expectations and did a great job. Chris brought great ideas that we had not thought about and worked with us each step to get exactly what we wanted. Also had a Shower curtain made for around the T-Top and it fits perfect.“

Isinglass FAQs

What does an Isinglass service include?

Isinglass services typically include the repair, replacement, cleaning, or full fabrication of clear vinyl enclosure panels. These services can involve fixing cracks or yellowing, re-sewing seams, replacing zippers, or installing brand-new isinglass panels as part of a canvas or full boat enclosure.

What types of boats use isinglass panels?

Isinglass panels are used on many types of boats, including cruisers, yachts, center consoles, trawlers, and sportfishers. They’re commonly found in enclosures protecting helm stations, cockpits, or flybridges, offering clear visibility while shielding you from wind, rain, and spray.

How do I get a quote for isinglass services through Boat Planet?

Submit a request on Boat Planet with your boat’s make, model, and the type of service you need—repair, replacement, or full enclosure. Include photos and measurements if possible. Local marine canvas and enclosure pros will respond with quotes and timelines.

Do isinglass pros come to my boat, or do I need to bring in the panels?

Most pros can come to your boat to measure, remove, or install isinglass panels. For repair work, the panels may need to be removed and brought to a shop. If you’re unsure how to detach the panels, many pros offer removal and reinstallation services.

How long does isinglass last?

Isinglass typically lasts 2–5 years, depending on how well it’s maintained. Sun, salt, and improper storage can reduce its clarity and flexibility. Higher-end alternatives like Strataglass or polycarbonate may last longer and resist yellowing and scratching more effectively.

How long does isinglass repair or replacement take?

Simple repairs like re-stitching or zipper replacement can take 1–3 days. Full panel replacements or new enclosure work may take 2–4 weeks depending on the complexity and availability of materials. Your pro will provide a project timeline after evaluating the job.

How much does isinglass service cost?

Repair jobs may start around $100–$300 for minor fixes. Full isinglass panel replacement or new custom enclosures can range from $1,000 to $5,000+, depending on size, materials, and the number of panels. Boat Planet lets you request up to three quotes to compare prices and services.

What should I do to prepare for an isinglass service appointment?

Clean the panels if you're bringing them to a shop and clearly mark any damage. If a pro is coming to your boat, make sure it’s accessible and remove any gear that might be in the way. If your panels are hard to remove, the pro can usually help with that too.
