“This is the second boat that Custom Canvas has done for us. They have redone the upholstery on my 320 Sundancer and my 2860 Sailfish. Both came out great. They are very busy so things never get done as quick as I want them to, but they managed my expectations and did a great job. Chris brought great ideas that we had not thought about and worked with us each step to get exactly what we wanted. Also had a Shower curtain made for around the T-Top and it fits perfect.“

Boat Cover Repair FAQs

What does a boat cover repair service include?

Boat cover repair services typically include patching holes, re-stitching seams, replacing zippers, snaps, and straps, reinforcing worn areas, and reapplying waterproofing treatments. These repairs help extend the life of your cover and ensure your boat stays protected from the elements.

What types of boat covers can be repaired?

Marine canvas pros can repair a wide variety of covers, including mooring covers, travel covers, cockpit covers, engine covers, console covers, and full storage covers. Whether your cover is made from Sunbrella, vinyl, or another marine-grade fabric, it can usually be repaired if the material is still in usable condition.

How do I get a quote for boat cover repair through Boat Planet?

Submit a request on Boat Planet with details about the damage, your boat’s make and model, and the type of cover you have. Uploading photos is highly recommended. Local canvas repair pros will respond with quotes and estimated timelines for the work.

Do boat cover repair pros come to my boat, or do I need to bring the cover to them?

Most repairs are done in a canvas or upholstery shop, so you'll typically need to remove the cover and bring it in. However, some mobile pros offer removal and reinstallation services if you’re unable to do it yourself. Check with your pro for options.

How long does a boat cover repair take?

Simple repairs like patching or re-stitching can often be completed in 1–3 days. More extensive work, like zipper or panel replacement, may take up to a week. Turnaround time depends on the shop’s schedule and availability of materials.

Is it worth repairing my boat cover, or should I replace it?

If your cover is structurally sound and the damage is limited to a small area—like a torn seam, broken snap, or small hole—repair is usually the most cost-effective option. If the fabric is sun-rotted, brittle, or leaking throughout, replacement may be a better long-term solution.

How much does boat cover repair cost?

Repair costs vary based on the size of the damage and type of repair. Small fixes may cost $50–$150, while larger repairs could range from $200–$400+. Boat Planet lets you request up to three quotes from local pros to compare pricing and services.

What should I do to prepare for a boat cover repair appointment?

If you're dropping the cover off, clean and dry it beforehand if possible. Label any problem areas or mention them when you submit photos. For mobile service, make sure the boat is accessible and remove any gear that might block access to the cover.
