Avoid Randy Renn / Marine Forensic Technicians as a buyers surveyor. Randy lists all of the requisite certifications to perform a high quality survey, however, the actual survey performance was lacking. Randy spent only a few scant hours in actual observation and missed numerous items which were subsequently uncovered by myself, a complete amateur. Randy's survey report was anemic to say the least - consisting of about a dozen grainy photographs and a similar number of paragraphs of mostly boiler-plate text indicating "good condition." The survey significantly over-estimated the condition and under-estimated the age of many systems and contained many factual errors as to the technical specifications of the systems themselves. Subsequent to the survey, Randy would not respond to any phone calls or emails which were sent in an attempt to clarify these incorrect findings. Way too expensive for a low quality survey and inaccurate report.
