Contracted with Priority Marine Construction to build a small dock and install a boat lift and associated accessory items.
Overall a bad experience and would not recommend doing business with this company for the following reasons:
1. Twenty six weeks to complete a job that should have taken no more that 2 - 4 weeks. No planning, no apologies, and no explanations along with limited communication.
2. The owner will decide how many holes were drilled, with no check or balance and no discussion........he all but writes his own check!!
The work commenced on the 9th November 2022 and was not completed until 26 weeks later on May 9th 2023!!
After demolition of the old dock, I was informed that "there will be some drilling required" and that approximately 50%, of the 12 piling holes will require drilling, at a cost of $1200.00 per hole. The contract stated " If hardpan is discovered and drilling is required, additional charges will be required." Other quotes that I had received for this job stated an additional charge of $500.00 per pile if drilling was required, $500.00 seemed to be the norm. The final invoice charged me for 11 of the 12 holes requiring drilling. I disputed this number and reviewing video noted that one of the lift piles that had to be drilled to 12 foot depth took less than 20 minutes to complete and no sign of hardpan. They were drilling mud!! I stilled got charged $1200.00 for this 20 minute hole. Note that if hardpan was encountered you would expect drilling to take a lot longer than 20 minutes, in fact when the owner quoted $1200.00 per hole he stated that in many cases it may take 1 to 2 days to drill a hole........certainly not 20 mins!!!
I received a final invoice before any of the accessory items had been delivered or fitted. I informed Priority Marine Construction of this oversight, but received little to no communication with regard to a timeline to complete installation or perhaps an apology or explanation as to why this occurred in the first place. To me it seemed that this was by design rather than an oversight, as it took another 19 weeks before we could declare "Job Complete", and only because I with held payment.
