Fisher island - Dredging
Our team consists of divers with different backgrounds, and it is always critical to select the right diving helmet for each operator. During dredging and bottom-deepening operations, the use of full commercial diving equipment is mandatory — specifically a surface-supplied diving helmet with hard-wired communications. Reliable comms are essential for coordinating with the topside crew, giving commands to the hydraulic pump operator, adjusting positioning, monitoring bottom conditions, and managing all other operational tasks. For these types of projects, Kirby Morgan helmets are the industry standard. They have proven their reliability over decades of commercial diving operations worldwide. This project was performed on Fisher Island, also known as the “billionaires’ island.” Access to the site was granted only after a thorough background screening process, and it took several months before we were approved to work there. It was one of the most beautiful and well-maintained locations our team has ever operated in. Our task was to increase the depth of one of the marina basins, allowing a mega-yacht to safely enter and dock. We performed localized dredging using hydraulic equipment, maintaining continuous diver-to-surface communications throughout the operation.
